EVANGELISM

A FREE COURSE COMPLIMENTS OF DALLAS THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

SESSION SIX

Boldness in evangelism

Dr. Larry Moyer is with us again to help us learn how to evangelize with boldness.

LESSON POINTS

  • Boldness in evangelism means having the courage to speak about the Lord freely, plainly, and confidently.

  • Even the apostle Paul experienced fear about sharing the gospel.

  • Boldness comes from developing four things: confidence in our message, conviction that we are God’s messengers, concern for people, and consistency in our lives.

  • We can also become bold by learning from the experience of other evangelists.

WORSHIP MOMENT

In 1 Corinthians 4:16, Paul urges us to imitate him. That means speaking boldly about Christ to others (Acts 19:8). It also means asking other believers to pray that we can be bold even though our natural inclination is fear (Ephesians 6:19). Praise God that He gives us biblical examples of evangelism from people who had the same sinfulness and fear and hang-ups that we have. May He give all of us what we need to fearlessly make His gospel known!

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  • Read 1 Thessalonians 2:2. How does Paul describe his treatment in Philippi? Does it bring you any comfort to know that Paul disliked being humiliated as well as being physically harmed?

  • If someone rejects your invitation to trust in Christ, does that mean they will never trust in Christ?

  • What did you learn this week that will help you to be bolder in sharing the gospel?

FURTHER STUDY

  • John 4; Acts 16; 1 Thessalonians 2
