Welcome to Mercy’s Door!
Whether you are thinking about visiting Mercy’s Door or have already come and are interested in finding out more, we welcome you and hope you are warmly greeted with the love of Christ. We desire to help you find the joy of community and worship that we have found here.
SUNDAY DETAILS
Worship Services
Our Sunday morning worship gathering is held in-person at 10:00a at 213 N Market St, Mascoutah, IL 62258.
You can expect exaltation of the Lord through singing, corporate confession and assurance of pardon for sin, expository preaching through full books of the Bible, corporate prayer, and communion. If you are unable to join us in person, the service is streamed live, and all of our sermons are available online.
Communion
Our church partakes in the Lord’s Supper each and every Sunday at the end of service.
Communion is a blessed sacrament to be enjoyed by the church. Scripture tells us that this sacrament is for believers who are repentant of their sin and are not harboring unforgiveness toward others. Before participating, we encourage all to examine whether their hearts are in the proper place to receive it.
Baptism
Mercy’s Door holds that baptism is a sacrament that Jesus commanded all believers to partake in.
The example we are given in Scripture is baptism by full immersion in water for those who have repented and placed their faith in Christ Jesus for salvation. We joyfully baptize believers upon a profession of faith at the request of the believer.
ELEMENTARY
We offer a Sunday school classroom during worship service. This is available for children grades K-4.
Our teachers utilize curriculum from The Gospel Project. Your first stop will be the MD Kids Welcome Center just inside the entry to the fellowship hall. Here you will be greeted, checked-in and oriented to the classroom. You can review our security policies here.
Nursery
We staff a nursery to care for your little ones during worship service. This is available for ages 0-4.
You will likewise check in at the MD Kids Welcome Center. The nursery is subdivided to separate non-walking children from walking children for safety. All children are prayed for by name, and walking children receive brief gospel lessons as they play.
Youth
Sunday classrooms are offered for children grades K-4, and we offer a nursery for children younger than this.
All other ages worship with their parents in the worship service. Junior High and High School-aged students are encouraged to participate in the Rooted Gospel Community group, which gathers every Sunday evening at 6p for discipleship and community with their peer group.
WHY DO WE GATHER TOGETHER?
We gather together as one body on Sundays to focus — or refocus — on the truth of God’s word and the grace we have through Jesus Christ. We proclaim the gospel, submitting ourselves to it and seeking to be transformed by it. We collectively behold and exalt Christ, not as disconnected individuals but as a community through music, teaching, prayer and sacraments.
