GOSPEL COMMUNITY
SHARED LEADERSHIP MODEL
Gospel Community is healthiest when every member of the community takes ownership of it. Every member is important to the health and mission of the whole.
We encourage every Gospel Community to find a night when everyone is present and discuss who can commit to serving in one of the following areas. Commitment should be seasonal though not everyone needs to lead in each area. These areas serve as a recommendation but additional areas of leadership can also be incorporated.
HOST / MEAL COORDINATOR
Find one or two people in your GC who are willing to use their house (or coordinate hosting) for meals and discussions. This person can also oversee the planning of the meals for your weekly, GC gatherings. This person(s) should ensure meals are planned, people know what to bring, and everyone is pitching in. This role is best for people with a hospitality and administrative gift.
DISCUSSION LEADER
Find at least one or two people who are willing to lead discussions for the GC. This role is best for people with a teaching gift. This is often, but does not necessarily need to be, the GC leaders. The discussion leader’s goal is to facilitate discussion and help people connect their story to the story of God.
MISSIONAL Leader
Find one person who has a natural desire to reach people beyond the gospel community. We want our GCs to be both healthy families growing together in the gospel inwardly as well as a community dedicated to reach the outsider with the gospel. The person leading this area should champion the vision of making disciples in your neighborhood/community. This role is best for people with evangelistic or apostolic gifting.
SHEPHERDing / Men & Women Organizers
Find at least one man and woman who is in touch with the spiritual and emotional needs of those in the GC. This person should oversee DNA groups, men or women studies in the GC, and help ensure we are connecting the gospel to the hearts of the people in the GC. This role is best for people with a shepherding gift.
PRAYER
Prayer is central to a community of people formed by the gospel. This can be an area led by one or two people or a shared commitment amongst the GC. Figure out how to include prayer in all gatherings as well as communicating and tracking prayers, requests, and needs.
CHILDCARE
Consider how your GC cares for and engages the children represented. This may include strategizing how to engage the kids in the family gatherings or how to ensure children are well cared for while discussion with adults is occurring.
CLEAN-UP
As a family we all clean up after meals and activities. Discuss with your GC what it looks like to honor and serve those who host by making clean-up a regular rhythm of GC gatherings.
