EVANGELISM

SESSION THREE
Defining Our Terms: EVANGELISM
This week we look at different definitions of the term “evangelism.”
LESSON POINTS
Evangelism is telling people the good news of Jesus.
We must be invitational and intentional as we share the gospel.
There is no list of good works you have to do before you can accept Christ’s salvation by faith. But genuine saving faith does produce good works.
Identifying with Christ also means identifying with His body, the church.
When sharing the gospel, we should disclose that the call to come to Christ is also a call to die to ourselves.
WORSHIP MOMENT
The simplest definition of evangelism is one beggar telling another where to find bread. Praise God that He sent someone to you to tell you where to find the Bread of Life (John 6:35). Or maybe no one has invited you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Christ. If that’s the case, please consider this invitation to embrace Christ as your Savior today!
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
How many times do you think you heard the gospel before you made the decision to put your faith in Christ?
Why is it important that we trust God with the results of our evangelistic efforts?
How would you respond to someone who thinks the biblical authors James (with his emphasis on works) and Paul (with his emphasis on faith) contradict each other?
