Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
— Jeremiah 29:7 ESV

SEEKING THE WELFARE OF OUR CITY

In 2021, Mercy’s Door, seeking a location to worship on Sundays that could fit the whole congregation in one service, moved into the Leu Civic Center in the heart of our city.

Constructed in the 1930s, the Leu Civic Center served first as a public school for Mascoutah in the 1940s and 50s. In 1978, the building was repurposed as a Civic Center, offering community programs for the benefit of all in our city.

This historic building is nearly 100 years old. In 2022, the Leu Civic Center came under new leadership, and Mercy’s Door entered into a partnership with the Leu to complete ongoing service projects to see the building restored and its civic engagement revitalized!

There is a full range of projects to be completed, some requiring skilled labor, and some requiring unskilled sweat equity! If you would like to hear more about upcoming service opportunities, sign up below.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
— Jesus Christ in Matthew 22:37-39 ESV
