Lead Pastor / Elder - Michael Collins

Michael Collins and his wife, Rachael, have been married since 2007, and are the proud parents of Noah, Henry, Hattie, and their new son, Samuel.  Michael and Rachael are both from the St. Louis Metro East area with Michael moving to the area during high school and Rachael being born and raised there.  Michael attended McKendree University in Lebanon, IL for undergraduate school before Rachael and he both moved to Texas for graduate school. Michael’s graduate program was in Public Policy and National Security and it was in this field that he spent the first few years of his career.  After Michael and the family moved to the Chicago suburbs in 2010, God began to work in both he and Rachael’s lives.  God lead them to an Acts 29 church in Oswego, IL (The Source Church) where they both grew deeper in their understanding of and love for the gospel.  Michael became an elder at the Source Church in 2012 and has served as the Executive and Worship Pastor there since.

One of the distinctions of being in an Acts 29 church is the belief that God has called us to plant churches that plant churches in order to spread the gospel.  Michael has always passionately believed in this calling, however as the Executive Pastor at the Source Church he always assumed it would be someone else that he would help to train up and send out to plant.  However, in 2014, after a trip back to the Metro East to visit family and friends, Michael and Rachael both began to sense that God was calling them to plant a church 5 hours away from their home church and in the same area where they grew up and first heard about the saving work of Jesus.  In 2015 Michael was accepted into the Acts 29 Network as a church planter and Michael and Rachael moved back to the Metro East in 2016 to plant Mercy's Door in Mascoutah.
